Yup this is real.
With restaurants re-opening the ketchup supply is dwindling.
They are really sweating over it. I mean, it's costing a lot, It's, you know, a service issue. So for these restaurant owners, it's not a laughing matter.-Heather Haddon
Now you may be thinking "why is there a shortage off ketchup packets". Well it's because since everyone was eating at home due to lockdown ketchup manufactures mainly focused on grocery store bottles of ketchup.
Well as you may know most restaurants don't use bottled ketchup and instead use packets which are for single us only. I think you're starting to see the picture.
Everyone was sheltering at home, and manufacturers really prioritized grocery customers. So everyone was, you know, eating their burgers and fries at home, The manufacturers have to shift production back, and that is not something that can happen quickly or easily, some general managers were having to, you know, go out to Costco or other wholesalers and just pull bottles off the shelf.-Heather Haddon
Because Of this Ketchup packet prices have rose by 13%.
Don't worry though cause Heinz promised that they will produce at least 12 billion packets to catch up to demand.
