Russian Surgeons Perform Open Heart Surgery While Building Is On Fire

The surgery continued thanks to an emergency electricity cable run into the ground-floor operating theatre as fans kept the smoke out. -BBC News

The hospital was built in 1907 during the reign of the Tsar which is why it looks the way it does. It also contributed to how quick the fire spread cause of the wooden ceilings. It is thought that a short circuit started the fire.


During the whole event there was apparently no panic or stress among the 8 doctor performing the surgery.
